Three North Bay Midget AAA Trappers have been named as members of the Under-16 NOHA team which will be taking part in a handful of Minor Midget Showcase events throughout the season.
Trappers’ defenceman Robert Buckley and goaltender Colton Point, and forward Thomas Farrell were named to the team last week.
In 4 games this season, Point has a 4.25 goals against average while Buckley has registered 2 assists in 8 games while Farrel has 4 goals and 1 assist in 9 contest to start the season for the Trappers who sport a 4-5 record in the Great North Midget League.
Midget AAA Trappers head coach Mike Reise was pleased to get the news about his young trio heading to represent the NOHA.
“Colton, Thomas and Robert have been working very hard this year and its nice to see them recognized for their hard work and dedication,” Reise told BayToday.ca.
“We wish them and the rest of the team all the best and I know they will represent the North very well.”
Team NOHA is comprised of OHL draft eligible players who attended the NOHA Development camp in Sudbury this summer.
The players were evaluated also evaluated by the Team NOHA staff during the first two months of the season.
The team will be coached by Sal Lamantea (Sault Ste. Marie), Chris McInnis (Sudbury), Glen Denney (Kapuskasing) and Anthony Rota (Sault Ste. Marie). Dan Charette (Mindemoya) will be the team’s Trainer, and Albert Corradini (Sudbury) will return as Director of Operations for a second year.
Point, Buckley and their NOHA teammates will particpate in the OMHA Minor Midget Showcase in Barrie (December 6-8, 2013), Sudbury Wolves Development Weekend (February 21-22, 2014) and the OHL Cup (March 11-16, 2014).
In addition, 20 players will participate in the OHL Gold Cup in May, 2014.
