MINOR PEEWEE EXHIBITION SERIES
The North Bay Nipissing Reader Minor Peewee AAA Trappers came away with a 2-2 record over the weekend during an exhibition series against a pair of AAA teams from Central Ontario.
The Trappers, who hosted the games at Memorial Gardens, opened with a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Central Ontario Wolves and then were dumped 4-1 by the North Central Predators in their two Saturday contests.
The Trappers rebounded on Sunday morning as they beat the Central Ontario Wolves 8-5. Nate Gravelle finished with three goals, while Masen Wray contributed two goals in the win.
Then on Sunday afternoon, the Trappers snuck by the Predators 3-1.
Trappers head coach John Couch was pleased with how the late August event unfolded for the young team which competed in its first AAA games as a team.
“This was a prelude to our AAA tourney in October,” said Couch.
“Everyone at Memorial Gardens was fantastic to deal with, and all the out of town teams were very impressed.”
