Minor Peewee
The BDI Minor Peewee AAA Trappers took part in the annual West Ferris Minor Hockey Early Bird Tournament this past weekend in North Bay. The Trappers began play Friday afternoon against Cumberland. The Trappers never really found their footing in this game falling 6-1 to the Ottawa area club. Chase Lefebvre had the lone goal with the assist going to Callum Craft. Jake Fullerton had a strong game on the blue line and was chosen player of the game for the Trappers. Game two saw the North Bay squad take on Seaway Valley from Cornwall. The game was a tight checking affair and a goaltenders battle. Trapper goalie Caelan McAuliffe was outstanding in the North Bay goal frustrating the Seaway shooters on several occasions enroute to a 1-0 shut out win. Dallas Landriault had the Trapper goal on a feed from Brett Richardson. For his shut out effort McAuliffe received a goaltenders award and Landriault was awarded player of the game. On Saturday evening the Trappers faced the Temiskaming Shores Puckhounds and battled to a 1-1 draw. Both teams played a very aggressive brand of hockey with each team exchanging scoring chances regularly. The Trappers displayed a great team effort on the penalty kill through out the game and had outstanding goaltending from Andrew Robillard, who was the Trapper player of the game. Lefebvre had his second goal of the weekend with help from line mates Craft and Cam Harwood. Semi final action Sunday morning was a rematch of Saturday evening’s game vs the Puckhounds. Once again the game was a back and forth match with stellar goaltending for both teams as the game was scoreless heading into the third period. Unfortunately for the Trappers the Puckhounds managed to find the net twice late in the third advancing them to the final. Owen Either was solid on the Trapper blue line and was selected player of the game for the Trappers.

Major Peewee

The Lucky 13 Major PeeWee Trappers travelled to Greater Sudbury for a weekend set against the Nickel City Sons. The first game was a tight one with the Trappers coming back from a 3-0 deficit to tie it up half-way into the third period. Unfortunately, a Nickel City goal in the last 1:30 sealed the deal for a Sons 4-3 victory. Nickel City took advantage of a short Trappers roster in the second game, winning 5-0. The Trappers came back Sunday with a stronger effort but fell short as Nickel City scored two in the third to take a 4-0 win.
The team will look for redemption this weekend as they host their first series of home games of the season, against the Soo at Sam Jacks Arena Saturday, October 31 , 11am & 5pm and Sunday, November 1st, 11am.

Minor Bantam

The Savignac minor bantam Trappers hosted the Soo AAA Greyhounds this weekend at the Astorville Arena, successfully winning all 3 games. The Greyhounds came into North Bay with a depleted roster due to injuries. The Trappers won the first game Saturday morning 4-1, with Ethan Masson scoring 2 and singles to
Nat Lalonde and Pacey Schlueting. Assists to Jesse Kirkby, Joe Jordan and Lalonde. Goaltender Cailen Hanzlik was strong in net.The Saturday afternoon game finished 5 to 0 in favour of the Trappers, with goals from Cole Goode, Jack Stockfish, Jordan, Lalonde and Masson. Schlueting had 2
assists, and Stockfish, Masson and Goode with 1. Shutout by Reece Proulx. Sunday’s game ended with the Trappers winning 4 to 0. Nat Lalonde struck with a hat trick, and Schlueting with 1. Jackson Buffam assisted on 2 goals, and Tanner Flood, Jordan, Stockfish, Masson, Goode and Schlueting
assisting on 1 each. Hanzlik supplying the shutout. Next up – The Trappers
are in Kitchener in 2 weeks attending the Blueline Tournament.

Major Bantam

The major bantam Trappers, sponsored by The Station, travelled to Sault Ste Marie this past weekend and defeated the Greyhounds 6-1 and 7-0. In the 6-1 victory on Saturday evening the Trappers were lead offensively by Ian Denomme with four goals and Ryan Mills with two. Kobe Seguin and Payton Vescio had two helpers each with single assists going to Matt Hardwick, Cole Goddard and Adam Howe. Zach Roy picked up the win in net.

On Sunday the Trappers shutout the Greyhounds with Joel Rainville between the pipes. The Trappers were lead by Vescio with a goal and three assists. Mills and Denomme each had a pair of goals with singles going to Hardwick and Cole Craft. Single assists were registered by Denomme, Hardwick, Currie Giesler and Brady Lacharity. The major bantam’s are off next weekend before travelling to Sudbury November 5-8 for the Big Nickel Tournament.
